Uniform - Birley Primary Academy

At Birley Primary Academy, we believe that wearing a smart and practical uniform allows all children, regardless of their background, to feel equal to their peers and confident in their appearance. It is important for children to wear clothing that is conducive to a successful learning environment, including activity-appropriate clothing – such as sports attire.

We have made our uniform requirements as simple as possible, so that it is affordable and can be purchased from high street stores and supermarkets.

We have sweatshirts and cardigans with our school logo that can be purchased from Pinders. There is no expectation that the uniform is purchased from Pinders or that it has to have the logo. This means the uniform can also be purchased from a wide range of supermarkets and high street stores too.

We keep a stock of good quality second hand uniform and we are happy to give these to families who need uniform clothing for free. We also gratefully receive any good quality items of uniform parents/carers wish to donate.

Required: Plain black, navy or grey tailored trousers, skirt or dress.	Available from any high-street shops.
Required: Black Smart Shoes	Available from any high-street shops.	No brand logos or coloured shoes
Required: Indoor PE Kit (Coloured House T-Shirt, Plain Black Shorts and Black PE Pumps).	Available from any high-street shops.	No football shirts
Required: Outdoor PE Kit (Jacket, House Coloured T-Shirt, jogging bottoms and trainers)	Available from any high-street shops.	No football shirts
Required: Book Bag	Available from Pinders with a school logo, or plain from any high street shop.	This is to be used in place of large bags and rucksacks.
Required: Swimming Costume	Girls are required to wear a 1 piece swimming costume while boys are required to wear trunks or shorts. All available from high-street retailers	Pupils typically go swimming whilst in Y4
Required: Outdoor Wear	Warm winter coats suitable for outdoor use are available from any high street shop.
Optional: Earrings- small stud earrings	Metal studs – one per ear only.	For health and safety reasons we cannot permit hoop, or drop earrings
Optional: Jewellery	Watch	No other jewellery is permitted
Not allowed: Make-up		No make-up, including nail varnish is permitted
Not allowed: Extreme Hairstyles		No extreme haircuts or colours are permitted.
