Pupil Voice is given a real status here at Birley Primary Academy; our children have many wonderful ideas and suggestions and they play a very important role within our academy. We believe that children need to be active participants in their own learning and to feel that their opinions will be heard and acted upon within both their school and their wider community.
At Birley Primary Academy we seek ways to listen to the views of our pupils and involve them in decision-making so that they are engaged as partners in the life of the school in many different ways outlined in the document below.
We believe that this will make a positive contribution to the school environment and ethos. Pupil voice is embedded into the curriculum with teaching and learning activities being used to enable pupils to focus on how to make informed decisions about their lives, their health and well-being and the environment. Have a look at the document below that details the importance of pupil voice, the different ways in which we facilitate it and what this looks like in practice at Birley Primary Academy.
At Birley Primary Academy, we have devised a wide variety of ways for children to engage in Pupil Voice activities and some of the examples of these can be found in the document below. These include our School Council, our Global Gang and our Junior Joes. Please click to find out more about each of these – and the many more examples of purposely planned Pupil Voice activities that can be found at the academy – below.
